This month we interviewed Daniele Caldart, Director of Da Rold Cassol
Tell us about yourselves. What is the history of your company?
The history of Da Rold Cassol Srl originates from the long tradition of two companies that preceded it in the Belluno area:
Da Rold Srl, founded in 1951, was born from the intuition of Luigi Da Rold as a road transport company operating in a difficult and mountainous territory such as Belluno, where connecting small towns and production hubs was (and still is) a logistical challenge.
Cassol, established in 1946, was also active in the road transport sector, with a specialization in forwarding and logistics.
These two family-run businesses developed in parallel for decades, growing alongside the economy and the transport needs of North-East Italy.
In 2022, a decisive step took place: the historic companies Da Rold and Cassol, together with Doge Logistica (a third logistics company based in the Treviso area), merged to create Da Rold Cassol Srl — a single, large transport and logistics company.
This merger marked an important strategic evolution in the sector:
the creation of a structure with a fleet of approximately 200 vehicles;
large storage areas (about 60,000 sqm);
integrated expertise and services in national transport, express services, groupage and logistics.
Since when have you been part of Gruppo CDS and what motivated you to join the network?
We have been part of Gruppo CDS since 2017. We asked to join the group because we had received positive feedback from our colleagues, and for us it was a sign of prestige to be part of this network of companies.
What characteristics make your service unique in the areas/provinces you serve for the Group? Which customers or sectors are your strengths?
Our strengths are the following:
Extreme service customization: a strong focus on customer needs. The province of Belluno is one of the largest in Italy in terms of surface area, but also one of the least densely populated, with around 55–57 inhabitants per square kilometer, significantly lower than both the Veneto regional and Italian national averages, due to its vast mountainous territory with numerous small municipalities. What could have been a major limitation has instead become a great strength.

What does it mean for you to be part of CDS? How has the affiliation impacted your daily work and your growth opportunities?
Joining the network has had a tangible impact on our daily operations. It has allowed us to integrate our flows with those of other affiliates, improving route organization, delivery punctuality and overall efficiency.
Working within a structured network enables us to face the operational complexities of the sector with greater solidity, standardizing processes, tools and service levels, without losing our corporate identity.
From a growth perspective, affiliation with Gruppo CDS has represented a multiplier of opportunities: it has given us access to a broader national network, new customers and services that would have been more difficult to develop independently.
Moreover, the constant exchange with other companies within the network fosters knowledge sharing, innovation and a greater ability to adapt to market changes.
In summary, Gruppo CDS is not just an operational network, but a strategic partner that allows us to grow in a structured way, while keeping at the core the values that have always distinguished Da Rold Cassol Srl: customer focus, strong ties to the territory and a long-term vision.
